12th Annual New Year Bash 2020
With a $900.00 dollar prize fund!
Date: One Day – Saturday, January 4, 2020
Where: Hilton Garden Inn Olathe – 12080 South Strang Line Road, Olathe, Kansas, 66062
Format: 4 rounds Swiss – Game/60 with 5 second delay (Dual-Rated); Three Sections: Open, Reserve-U1800 and Amateur-U1400 (Based on January 2020 Rating Supplement and CCA minimum rating lists)
Schedule: Saturday: Registration 8:00AM-9:30AM, Rd 1 – 10AM; Rd 2 – 12:45PM; Rd 3 – 3PM; Rd 4 – 5:15PM
Memberships: Both current US Chess and KCA memberships are required. US Chess and KCA memberships may be purchased or renewed on-site. Other States Accepted.
Registration: $42 by January 2 via online entry at https://www.acerook.com/register?event=2020nyb ; $47 late/on-site entry.
For those that are K-12 students, whose entry fee do not count towards the prize fund nor are eligible for cash prizes, $22 by January 2 via online entry at https://www.acerook.com/register?event=2020nyb ; $27 late/on-site entry.
(Online registration will list 6 sections but there is only 3 section – Open and Open Scholastic will merge; Reserve and Reserve Scholastic will merge; and Amateur and Amateur scholastic will merge.)
Prizes ($900 based on 40 adult entries): Prizes will increase proportionally if over 40 entries.
Open: $180 - $120 - $60
Reserve: $150 - $100 - $50
Amateur: $120 - $80 - $40

Equipment: Please bring boards, sets and clocks to the event. Limited Acerook Chess Enterprises’ equipment will be available to loan per round basis.
Other: Players are expected to know the rules in U.S. Chess Federation’s Official Rules of Chess - 7th edition and any updated rule changes since the 7th edition. There is a time delay of 5 seconds. 1 Half-point bye is offered for rounds 1-3, if requested prior before the start of the tournament.
