Brian's Birthday Bash

Date: One Day – Saturday, August 11, 2018

Where: Hilton Garden Inn Olathe – 12080 South Strang Line Road, Olathe, Kansas, 66062

Within walking distances of several restaurants including Jimmy John’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, KC Joe’s, Panda Express, and many more. 

Registration: Send all advanced entries to yang.brian@ymail.com: Last & First Name; Section, US Chess ID number (make sure US Chess and/or KCA membership is current). US Chess and KCA memberships may be purchased or renewed on-site. *BOTH US Chess and KCA memberships are required. Other States Accepted. All advanced entries must be in by e-mail by Thursday, August 9, 2018 by 9:00PM.  

Format: 4 rounds Swiss – Game/60 with 5 second delay (Dual-Rated); Three Sections: Open, Reserve-U1800 and Amateur-U1400 (Based on August 2018 Rating Supplement)

Registration 8:00AM - 9:30AM; Round 1 - 10:00AM; Lunch - 12:00PM; Round 2 - 12:45PM; Round 3 - 3:15PM; Round 4 - 5:45PM. 

Entry Fee: All players pay on-site on Saturday. Only Cash will be accepted. Refer to the table for both adult and scholastic rates. The scholastic rate is for players that are K-12 student and playing for rating-only, not cash prizes. Players must be present by 9:30AM or else they will not be paired for first round.  Adults - $40 pre-registered, $45 onsite. Scholastics - $15 pre-registered, $20 onsite. 

Awards: Prizes will increase proportionally if number of adult entries is above 40! Open Section: $180-$120-$60; Reserve-U1800: $150-$100-$50; Amateur-U1400: $120-$80-$40.

Equipment: Please bring boards and sets. None are supplied – very limited equipment in case players forget from Acerook Chess Club (10 boards & sets / 10 clocks).

Food and Drinks: Players may leave as soon as they are finished with the 1st round to get lunch but must return before 2nd round to not risk losing time.

Other: Players are expected to know the rules in U.S. Chess Federation's official Rules of Chess - 6th edition and any updated rule changes since the 6th edition. There is a time delay of 5 seconds. 1 Half-point bye is offered for Rounds 1-3, if requested prior before the start of the tournament.
